Description

Hatha yoga is a slower style of yoga that includes both yoga asanas (postures) and pranayama (breath work). Postures are generally practiced at a slow and steady rate as compared to the other forms of yoga. This allows for a deeper exploration within each asana and also gives time for finding variations that suit different bodies and different practices. Its main focus is on creating a balance between the breath and the postures, building both strength and softness within the body.

(The term “hatha” means “force” or “willfulness” that is required to perform an activity. This yoga deals with the two components of “ha” that refers to the sun and “tha” that denotes the moon. )
