Description

Yin yoga concentrates on stretching our bodies connective tissue such as ligaments, tendons, and fascia’s. Based on Taoist philosophy of balancing yin and yang, yin being the connective tissue and yang our bodies muscles. This gentle and relaxing form of yoga begins with meditation followed by breathing exercises to slow the mind down and connect with the body. Postures are typically held for 3-5 minutes to reach the deeper connective tissue and help create energy flow. By strengthening connective tissue, we simultaneously help unblock energy points known as chakras and align the flow of energy channels along our meridians, this calms the nervous system, helps with anxiety, improves circulation and increases flexibility. Our 60 mins (non-heated) Yin Yoga classes will take you through a variety of poses and are designed for all levels and ages as there are posture variations to suit everyone. Most of the poses are floor based (no balancing required J) so you are welcome to wear warmer attire in the cooler months.
