Mookaite Jasper
Mookaite (they / them) is a non-binary teacher who has been practicing yoga for 10 years. They are passionate about inclusive and accessible yoga, and believe that yoga is for all bodies. Since completing their 200 hours training in York with YogaCampus, Mookaite went on to qualify as a Yin Yoga teacher (also with YogaCampus) and also studied with the Accessible Yoga School. They are training to become a Gentle Years teacher with the British Wheel of Yoga, to teach chair yoga to older adults. Mookaite comes to yoga through a mental health lens, with movement and meditation forming a big part of their own self-care living with bipolar disorder. They founded Queer Yoga North in Saltburn and Middlesbrough, to share the mental health benefits of yoga with others in the LGBTQIA+ community.
Description
Join us for an inclusive strength-based session for LGBTQIA+ people aged 18+. The sessions are accessible with plenty of adaptive equipment. An instructor from the Live Well Centre will be there to guide you through the equipment but you can take the exercises at your own pace. Strength Training: 5.30-6.30pm. Mini-social: 6.30-7pm with herbal teas and snacks.

The venue is wheelchair accessible by a lift. There is parking in the basement with a lift directly up to the Live Well Centre on the 2nd floor of the Dundas Shopping Centre. For wheelchair access to the wheelchair accessible lift from the car park in the basement, email info@queeryoganorth.com before the session. There are a dozen steps from the car park to the main lift, which is accessed without emailing in advance.

The session is funded by Sport England. Please note: the Live Well Centre instructors rotate each week and they might be allies of the LGBTQIA+ community, who not necessarily identify as LGBTQIA+ themselves.
