Sage Somatics Participant Code of Conduct

RESPECT: All participants are expected to treat fellow participants, instructors, and staff members with respect and courtesy. This includes using appropriate language, refraining from the use of vulgarities or obscenities, being mindful of personal space, and refraining from any form of verbal abuse, name-calling, discrimination, or harassment.

PUNCTUALITY: Participants must arrive 15 minutes early to avoid missing out on the practice. Our building access security protocols do not accommodate drop-ins and reservations are required. Reserved participants must arrive early and wait in the seating area in the building lobby. Participants will be granted access to the studio 15 minutes before class time to get settled in. No late entry after class time.

DRESS CODE: Participants are required to adhere to a studio dress code. If needed, the hallway restrooms can be used as a dressing area, as there is no dressing area inside the studio. Everyone is encouraged to arrive dressed for class and to wear clothing that extends to cover and protect elbow and knee joints from adhering to or being abraded by the floor or mat surface. Modest attire is expected during yoga classes and within the studio premises. Revealing, provocative, or offensive clothing that may cause discomfort or violate indecent exposure laws is strictly prohibited. The studio reserves the right to refuse entry to any participant who fails to comply with the dress code or whose attire is deemed inappropriate. It is important to maintain a respectful and inclusive environment for all participants, and appropriate clothing choices contribute to creating a comfortable and focused atmosphere for yoga practice. Students are encouraged to wear layered comfortable, non-restrictive clothing that allows for managing changes in the room temperature and freedom of movement, while ensuring modesty and respect for themselves and others.

HYGIENE AND FRAGRANCES: Maintaining personal hygiene is crucial to creating a comfortable and clean environment. Participants are encouraged to come to class clean and wear clean, comfortable clothing. Please refrain from applying fragrances of any kind on class day (all scented perfumes, colognes, oils, lotions are discouraged).

COMMUNICATION: Open and respectful communication is essential. Participants should feel free to ask questions, express concerns, or seek guidance from instructors. Get permission before providing feedback. Keep it kind and constructive!

MINDFULNESS: Yoga is a practice that requires concentration and an inward focus. Participants are expected to silence their electronic devices and refrain from any behavior that may distract others during classes. Phones must be left in the storage cubbies in the hallway (not on your mat).

SAFETY: Prioritizing personal safety and the safety of others is of the utmost importance. Absolutely NO WEAPONS OF ANY KIND are permitted on the premises. Participants should follow instructions from instructors regarding posture alignment, modifications, and the use of props. If any physical limitations or injuries are present, it is advised to inform the instructor beforehand.

CLEANLINESS: Leaving the studio space as clean and tidy as it was found is appreciated. Participants should ensure that they return any props or equipment to their designated places after use.

CONFIDENTIALITY: Respecting the privacy and confidentiality of fellow participants is crucial. Any personal or sensitive information shared within the studio should be kept confidential.

NON-COMPETITIVENESS: Yoga is a personal journey, and each individual's practice is unique. Participants are encouraged to focus on their own progress, rather than comparing themselves to others. Creating a supportive and non-competitive environment is essential.

FOLLOW STUDIO POLICIES: Adhering to the policies and guidelines set by the yoga studio, such as registration, payment, and cancellation policies, helps maintain a smooth and organized experience for all participants.

By following these general terms of the Sage Somatics Participant code of conduct, participants can create a harmonious and welcoming environment that promotes growth, well-being, and respect for others. Sage Somatics reserves the right to ask any student to leave or ban them from returning if their behavior violates the code of conduct, disrupts the peaceful environment, or poses a threat to the safety and well-being of others. This includes but is not limited to engaging in aggressive or disrespectful behavior, harassment, or failure to comply with the studio's policies and instructions provided by the instructors. The decision to ask a student to leave or ban them from returning will be made at the discretion of the management, and any such decision will be final. Sage Somatics aims to create a safe and positive space for all participants, and it is expected that all participants adhere to this code of conduct and contribute to the collective harmonious yoga experience.
