Description

In a yin yoga class the emphasis is on 'slowing down', softness and leniency for yourself. Yin yoga gives you the chance to explore your limits and is suitable for beginners and advanced yoga practitioners.
A Yin yoga class is about stretching. The exercises are gentle and relaxing and you stay in the same position for a long time so that you can observe what is happening to your body. It is a gentle form of yoga as the poses are static and held for a long time. The postures do require physical and mental effort due to the deep stretch that is brought into the deeper tissues (such as ligaments, cartilage, fascia).
Yin Yoga is ideal for those who want to work on a flexible body without working hard on the muscles, all this in a meditative way.
In yin yoga you don't use your muscles to get into a posture, but you let gravity do its job.
It has already been proven that top athletes (especially runners) benefit from this form of yoga because the joints are trained in such a way that fewer injuries are incurred and recovery after injury is considerably faster.
In addition, yin yoga is often offered, in addition to regular medical treatments, as an additional program to people who are confronted with, for example: fibromyalgia, spasmophilia, rheumatism, anorexia, chronic pain, chronic fatigue, burnout, stress, depression, high blood pressure, rehabilitation & prevention of (sports) injuries, etc.
