Minou Shahbazkhani
My name is Minou, and I am a 200-hour RYT in accordance with Yoga Alliance. Yoga came into my life at the same time grief did. Losing my husband of 25 years had left me with a constant ache and feeling of uneasiness. It was as if his last breath took mine with it. Through yoga, I learned how to regain my sense of self, peace, and acceptance- breath by breath.
Meditation helped me sit with my emotions to better understand them instead of letting them always cloud my mind.
Now, I’m teaching yoga, hoping to help others find their breath again through whatever tough time they are going through. I want to teach others how helpful meditation can be for healing and how it serves as a bridge to connect with the universe.
Description
Chair yoga, which can be practiced while sitting on a chair or standing with a chair for support, has many benefits, including:
Flexibility
Chair yoga can help increase flexibility and mobility by stretching the body in places that might not be normally stretched.
Strength
Using muscles to complete poses builds strength, which can be especially important for seniors who want to continue doing household chores.
Pain management
Exercise can help reduce pain by releasing endorphins, which are natural painkillers.
Stress reduction
Chair yoga can help reduce stress, anxiety, and depression by encouraging mindfulness, relaxation, and focused breathing.
Improved balance and coordination
Transitioning from one pose to another in a chair yoga sequence can improve proprioception, or awareness of body movements in space, which can lead to better balance and coordination.
Mental health
Chair yoga can promote mental health and well-being, and the social aspect of a class can help foster a sense of community and belonging.
Accessibility
Chair yoga is affordable and accessible to people of all fitness levels, including beginners and those with mobility challenges.
