Dianne Mancus
Dianne Sirna Mancus, a retired elementary school teacher, school principal, reading specialist, university professor and university administrator, has practiced yoga for more than 50 years. Her yoga teacher training took place at Yoga Haven in Westchester, New York, 200 hours, at New York City Prenatal Yoga Center in Charlotte, N.C., 85 hours, at Vastu School of Yoga in Isla Mujeres, Mexico, 300 hours, and at Vastu School of Yoga in Tuscaloosa, AL, 200 hours. She holds Registered Yoga Teacher 500 and Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher credentials with Yoga Alliance. Dianne is certified by Ashanti Ashram, Amsterdam, Netherlands, in Yoga Nidra, 50 hours, and Yin Yoga, 50 hours. Dr. Mancus authored the successful Maha Shanti Yoga School “Registered Yoga School Application” to Yoga Alliance. She has entered more than 800 hours of teaching hours with Yoga Alliance since 2016. A mother of three and grandmother of three, Dianne has lived in Tuscaloosa since 2016. She has taught at Yoga Bliss, University of Alabama School of Social Work, University of Alabama School of Nursing, and Lifeline Solutions, LLC.

Description

In this gentle yoga class, learn how synchronized breath and movement stop the minds incessant monkey-chatter and bring inner stillness. Based on ancient yogic wisdom and modern neuro-science, learn how to relax the nervous system, move the body in a life-affirming ways, and cultivate mindfulness. Follow a daily class theme for positive thought and action on and off the mat. Options given-determine the level of challenge right for you.

*First Tuesday of the Month- Rest, Relax, Digest: Yoga to Engage the Parasympathetic Nervous System.

*Second Tuesday of the Month- Yoga Asana for the Psoas Muscle; Less Back/Hip Pain, Increased Range of Motion, and Relaxation.

*Third Tuesday of the Month- Finding Balance On and Off the Mat.

*Fourth Tuesday of the Month- Confront Fear with Gentle Backbends.

*Fifth Tuesday of the Month- A Calming Yoga Sequence to Reduce Anxiety.
