Description
Apart from being able to perform backbending postures in a safe and proper way, practising backbends brings about health benefits. Backbends stretch and expand the chest, therefore induce deeper breathing and increase oxygen levels in the blood, leading to higher metabolism rate. Backbends also create strength in all of the muscles of the back to improve postures. In this class, you will learn drills and poses to open your shoulders and hips, strengthen the muscles required to support and stabilise your backbends, and learn to use props correctly to reach backbend postures when required.
Great class to target deepening your back bending postures. Preferably to have some experience in yoga so that you will enjoy this class more.
There will be some back bending postures which can be intense for beginners in yoga who are not flexible, however, you may use props like the wheel and strap to help you into deep stretch. In the long term, you will be able to improve flexibility in your shoulders, hips and spine.
