What is movement meditation?
Movement meditation is not your usual meditation where you sit still and focus on your breath. Movement meditation focuses on the movements of the body rather than the goal of the movement. Like in meditation you are trying to not let the thoughts run the show, the same is in movement. Moving the body as it wants and feels and not based on what the thoughts are saying.

There is no judgement here, its a safe space for your own expression. You aren't performing, or moving to the beat/rhythm. You are moving to the rhythm of what the body is guiding you to do.

Why movement meditation?
To get out of your head, to move out tensions, to get more present in your body, to reconnect with what is true in you. If you are not able to quiet your mind during sitting meditation, then movement meditation can really help you get the focus you need in order to still your mind and reap the rewards of sitting meditation such as calmness, less stress, and focus.You will become more in tune with your body through movement meditation.

Will we move for the whole of 60minutes?
Yes and no. We will begin with a 5 minute explanation and guidance from me to get you into the space, follow by approximately 45 minutes of movement, starting slower and increasing in speed then diving in down into slowness again and then 10 minutes of relaxation to fully take in all the benefits of the practise.

*Doors to the studio will close promptly at 19:30, please come early to get yourself settled in for a prompt start without rushing.
*Please wear comfortable clothing for movement.
*Bring a water bottle.
*Bring a blanket or eye pillow for the relaxation part if you'd like to.
