Description

As well as yoga postures (asana), these classes are supported by various breath-control techniques (pranayama) as the grounding-point for achieving a state of stress-free harmony and calming the nerves. Breath is used either: at the start to create a meditative rhythm; in-between to re-energise; and/or at the end to stabilise/oxygenate the bodily systems. Breath is so important to yoga practices as it is believed to be the source of prana (vital energy) for the body and can be harnessed as the bridge to connect the mind and the body together.

The focus is on building holistic practices that are beginner friendly, suit all types of people, and are sensitive to the needs of all participants (variations are given to suit all abilities but you are in control of whatever you would like to try!) If you have tried yoga and found it too challenging/not conducive to your constitution, I recommend you try this class as we will incorporate elements of: gut-health yoga - compressions/twists to support abdominal organ stimulation and natural functioning; yin yoga - targeting energy centres to facilitate the body's natural detoxification processes; and sound yoga - singing bowl frequencies, mantra singing/chanting and bathing in the sounds of the bansuri (Indian Bamboo Flute).

Several approaches to yoga practices will be explored; from hand seals (mudra) activating reflexology points, to guided meditations (dhyana) which help participants to get in touch with their light within.
