Stefanie Young
I teach a gentle, more intuitive style of Hatha Yoga than traditional Indian Hatha. This is known as Sama Yoga (https://www.samayoga.info/teacher/stefanie-young/), infused with elements of Qi Gong and Tai Chi as well as some more relaxing Yin postures. Mostly, I aim to feel the energy of the class, and respond to the needs of the yogis in the room. Besides postures, I use breathwork (pranayama), mantra, yoga nidra and short meditations. Sama Yoga plays a big part, both in my language and the poses, and I have noticed, that the classes packed full of Sama Yoga elements, are those that make the biggest difference to the students. I also teach Chair Yoga and Yin Yoga. I look forward to sharing yoga with you! A little more about the style of yoga I offer and my background: https://stefanie-young.com/yoga/ Mobile: 07516 313 502

Description

A beautiful journey of exploration into the concepts of mantra, mudra and Indian mythology, along with some insights into the ancient cultural practices, with practical application in the modern world. This is an interactive session including mantra chanting, use of mudras and mindfulness. No prior experience required.

A little more detail on the workshop:
"Mantra and mudra enable the brain to remain present in the moment, as we are focused on the next audible sound and our connection to the body and breath. The phonetic sounds we use to chant are made up of carefully selected letters of the Sanskrit alphabet, which have a specific meaning, a possible resonance in the body, and also support an alignment to the breath.

Mantra can be considered an extension of mudra; each mudra represents certain elements and combining these two together, we increase the holistic awareness, the way the body and mind interacts and the flow of energy throughout our body, through breath, sound and fingertips.

"Essentially, mudras are a form of non-verbal communication - an 'external expression of inner resolve'" (Eckhart Tolle).

The use of mantra can be very effective in terms of creating inner harmony in the body, stability and peace of mind, as well as stopping the restless and easily distracted 'monkey mind' which makes a more frequent appearance within us all, with the way we now live in the West."
