About Bay Area Yoga Center
At the Bay Area Yoga Center for Health and Healing, we offer flow based (vinyasa) yoga classes that emphasize proper alignment and safe practice in a friendly and quiet atmosphere. We are rooted in the Astanga tradition of yoga which incorporates lifestyle, movement, breath, meditation, self study, and service.
The yoga practice at Bay Yoga is fantastic for improving strength, endurance and flexibility. Our nationally certified and registered teachers explain and demonstrate each posture. We encourage students to progress at their own pace.
Flow Yoga provides poses that range from gentle to challenging, but are done with stable, self-centering energy. The pace of these classes is slower and emphasis is placed on correct alignment and proper muscle engagement, while maintaining balance of slow mindful breathing. Flow yoga is well-suited to all types of students, both the beginner to the advanced. If you are new to a yoga practice, we also offer a 6 week Beginner’s Guide to Yoga Movement series.
Our studio has three separate open and peaceful classrooms, with warm cork flooring. Our studio offers first floor, handicap access for our senior students and for those who cannot manage steps.
