Sometimes folks find Ayurveda complicated and confusing. Fair enough. Like most medical sciences, there is a lot going on in the world of Ayurveda! That said, there are also some simple and straightforward maps to guide us along the path to health, resilience, and well-being. My favorite of these is Ayurveda’s Three Pillars of Health. It is grounded in approachable daily practices that are supported by modern-day science.
Ayurveda has given us a clear map with three pillars of health:
Pillar 1 – Nourishment: supporting our digestive fire to optimize nutritional intake so we can build strong healthy tissues, reducing metabolic waste production to lower the risk of disease, and the importance of eliminating wastes from our system. It’s not only what you eat, but how you eat it, and if you digest it.
Pillar 2 – Sleep: the importance of restorative sleep for digestion (in body and mind), clearing out of toxins, rebuilding healthy tissues, and refilling the well of energy.
Pillar 3 – Energy Management: understanding how much energy you have, knowing what uses it up, and implementing a daily routine to maintain and build your energy and resilience. Know your limits, play within it. Also, health is created by daily choices, not by chance. The best way to live healthy, is to create a healthy daily routine where your health needs (diet, lifestyle, sleep) are met.
Our health is important not only to ourselves, but to the whole planet. Ayurveda teaches us that we are not separate from nature but an integrated part of the whole system. Where each of us finds balance, peace, and harmony, the whole system gets to experience it. Where humans choose health, the whole planet is healthier.
If you are interested in learning, more please join us! We'd love to have you :)
Investment in your health: $40 for members, $50 non-members
