Winter Vinyasa 5: Extending the breath in stillness
Kate Armstrong2 January 2024 • Duration: 1 Hour, 10 Minutes
A winter vinyasa based on an Apam Namaskar (Water Salutation). A more vigorous yoga practice for Winter season.
A practice exploring stillness inherent as you extend the breath. One of the 8 rungs of Patanjali’s 8 Limbs of Yoga: Pranayama or breath control is essential to reach higher states of meditative calm. This deep calm is called sandhya - the wedding of the sun and the moon or, in TCM terms, the balancing of Yin and Yang. In TCM stillness is at the heart of the water element so this practice helps us explore stillness through extension of the breath in poses.
