Shen is the “spirit of the mind”. Along with our Qi, Blood, Essence (DNA) our Spirit (Shen) completes the fabric of our human existence and is vital to our health according to Traditional Chinese Medicine. Essentially Spirit is the part of ourselves that speaks to our authenticity and to our connection with others and to the natural world. It orientates us within our present reality and allows us to experience life to the full and is essential for the robustness of our virtues: unconditional love, compassion, morality, wisdom etc. Working with aspects of TCM in our practice helps us integrate our physical-mental-emotional-spiritual selves for overall health and vitality.
