Please arrive 10 mins before the class starts to allow us to begin on time.
A little bit of gentle yang to help you to midweek chill and then into Yin. Yin Yoga is a slow-paced and gentle style of yoga that focuses on long-held, passive poses. It targets the deep connective tissues of the body, such as ligaments, joints, and fascia, rather than the muscles. Poses are held for 3 to 5 minutes allowing for a deep stretch and release.
Benefits of Yin Yoga:
1. Increased Flexibility: Yin Yoga helps to improve flexibility by targeting the connective tissues, which tend to be less elastic than muscles. Regular practice can lead to increased range of motion and improved joint mobility.
2. Stress Relief: Yin Yoga promotes relaxation and stress reduction. Holding poses for an extended period of time encourages deep breathing and activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which helps to calm the mind and body.
3. Improved Energy Flow: Yin Yoga focuses on stimulating the body's energy channels, known as meridians. By holding poses that target specific meridians, students can enhance the flow of energy throughout the body, promoting overall well-being.
4. Enhanced Self-Awareness: The slow and meditative nature of Yin Yoga allows students to cultivate a deeper sense of self-awareness. By observing sensations, thoughts, and emotions that arise during the practice, you can develop a greater understanding of yourself and your body.
5. Joint Health and Injury Prevention: Yin Yoga gently stretches and strengthens the connective tissues around the joints, promoting joint health and reducing the risk of injuries. It can be particularly beneficial for individuals with joint stiffness or conditions such as arthritis.
6. Mindfulness and Meditation: Yin Yoga provides an opportunity for mindfulness and meditation. The long holds in poses encourage students to stay present and observe their experiences without judgment, fostering a sense of mindfulness and inner peace.
The room will be warm and so it's a great way to chill!
Please bring your own mat and props such as blocks, tiles, bricks, blanket and a strap.
