Candice le Roux
I am a body-based stress, tension and trauma therapist with a combined 500 hours of yoga teachers training, a B.A degree in Psychology and qualifications in TRE: Trauma Release Exercise facilitator with further training in somatic experiencing. I am also a certified life coach and NLP practitioner using this amazing tool box I approach my sessions with an open heart and curiosity to find gentle release through accessing the bodies intelligence with mindful movements, pranayama and yoga nidra.
For the better part of seven years, I worked with at-risk communities in the inner city of Pretoria, South Africa. The last two years of my work here was spent with vulnerable and destitute women where I offered yoga classes as a therapeutic intervention in order to assist these women in dealing with stress, anxiety, and depression related to trauma. It was here that I discovered the incredible potential for recovery through therapeutic body-based techniques and believe that it is because the power is given back to the individual who becomes the catalyst for their own personal well – being.
Since then I have worked with people from all walks of life offering wellness centred sessions in the corporate environment, working with the elderly to assist with physical pain and running creative collaborative yoga, music and arts events using these various aspects of our intrinsic need for expression through movement. I am honoured to be able to continue my yoga practice and grow my understanding of what it means to be a human being embodied in our stories and powerful in our ability to evolve as conscious companions on our journeys to wholeness.
