Description
September: Joint Mobility Series
Chair Yoga can be a safer alternative to people with disabilities, chronic pain, or people who don’t feel steady enough to practice on their own. Practicing chair yoga can bring the same benefits as a full yoga practice. The idea is that the breathing and awareness practice is the same; we are simply adjusting the poses so that we are more comfortable in them.
In this month's series, we will learn techniques to systematically warm up the joints. We will also practice breathwork and mindfulness meditation in this 45 minute class.
What does systematically warming up the joints do for us?
- Prevents injury
- Increases circulation
- Improves body awareness (posture and balance)
- Relieves joint pain: gentle movements help those with arthritis (both osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis), fibromyalgia (like myself), lupus and more.
You are welcome to join the class on your yoga mat without a chair.
