About QoyaWithKatie
Hello! I'm Katie, here to share the magic of Qoya with you—a harmonious blend of dance, flowing yoga, connection, and joyful healing.
QOYA? TELL ME MORE.
Imagine your body as a house you've lived in for years. Maybe you spend most of your time in the "Control Room," planning, analyzing, and worrying. Or perhaps in the "To-Do List Office," constantly ticking off tasks. But what about the "Joy Room," the "Freedom Space," or the "Peace Corner"? They're still there, waiting for you to explore them. Qoya invites you to unlock these forgotten spaces and rediscover the joy of being fully at home in yourself. It's less about how it looks and more about how it feels.
In Qoya, there’s no struggle—only flow. The practice shows you new ways of being: strong, flexible, agile, savoring, and loving.
MY QOYA JOURNEY
In 2018, amidst life's twists and turns, I "stumbled" upon Qoya. It felt like it was created just for me; here's why:
* It’s rooted in the wisdom of YOGA, but without needing to hold poses for too long (great for someone like me who’s more about flowing than staying put).
* It includes FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT that makes you sweat and use your muscles, but without the need for treadmills or barbells (wish I'd love them but nope, I don't).
* It celebrates DANCE, but in a way that’s all about freedom of expression (no need to worry if your arms and legs aren’t quite in sync—so me!).
*And it offers HEALING, but with a joyful, embodied twist—no couches or serious faces required.
Since, I’ve been intensively trained in Qoya by its founder, Rochelle Schieck, in London and Woodstock NY. And wherever I land, whether that's in Panama, Mexico, Paris or Brussels, I am on a mission to help spread this beautiful practice.
WHAT DOES A CLASS LOOK LIKE?
A Qoya class is both spontaneous and structured. You’ll engage in rituals, pilgrimage, and community connections to open your heart, mind, and spirit. You’ll slow down and feel. You’ll sweat. You’ll laugh, play, and have fun! There’s no wrong way to do Qoya. In fact, the only way to know you’re doing it right is when it feels good.
And while Qoya is a movement practice, it’s also a dynamic gathering—a dance class, a shared circle and a wild party—all rolled into one.
My Qoya classes are mostly taught in English, but I’m happy to translate parts into Dutch, French, Spanish, or Italian when needed.
A PEEK INTO MY WORLD
When I'm not dancing through life with Qoya, I'm cherishing moments with my sweet daughter, Giselle; sharing love with my Italian partner, who brings a touch of "amore" to our Belgian days; immersing myself in music that makes my heart sing; and seeking out new adventures, whether exploring a different country or diving into a project that ignites my passions.
Beyond my passion for Qoya, I have trained as a life coach with Tony Robbins and Cloe Madanes, as a Soul's Calling Coach with Bev Barnes, and as an energetic reader through Akashic Record Reading & Soul Realignment® with Andrrea Hess. These experiences help me guide others to find their true purpose and live authentically, enriching my Qoya classes with deeper insight.
Come dance with me in a Qoya class, where we'll move, laugh, and celebrate the wild, wise, and free essence within us all.
Love,
Katie
