About Soma Yoga Norfolk

NATALIE JOBANPUTRA

Hi, I'm Nat! I’m a Yoga teacher and Somatic Movement Educator based in West Norfolk. I offer weekly in-person Somatic Vinyasa Yoga at Castle Acre Village Hall and, a beautiful former chapel overlooking the castle ruins. This style of Yoga is slow but strong, with an emphasis on therapeutic, functional and embodied movement. In my classes I invite you to slow down, tune into your breath and sense and feel your body from the inside out. Most importantly I encourage you to listen to your body and your mind with an attentive, kind and self-compassionate attitude.

I also teach group Somatics classes at Great Dunham Village Hall and private Somatics lessons from my garden studio in West Acre.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

I've been practising Yoga for nearly 25 years and teaching since 2006. I did my initial training with Yoga Scotland (then British Wheel of Yoga Accredited) and went on to complete further teacher trainings in Ashtanga Yoga and Sivananda Yoga as well as studying Iyengar yoga both in the UK and India. I spent a total of two years (spread over several trips) learning Yoga and meditation in India, including long periods living, studying and teaching in the Sivananda ashrams in Madurai and Kerala. Back in the UK I taught Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow full time in studios in Edinburgh, London and Kent until taking a career break in 2018 to start a family. I resumed teaching in my new home of rural West Norfolk in late 2022 and in 2023 I completed a year long Somatic Exercise Coach training with Lisa Petersen.
