After leaving my home country of Belgium at the age of 22 I have travelled extensively in and spent a lot of time in India and Nepal where I became immersed in Buddhist and Hindu philosophy and yogic text. Returning to Europe I moved to Scotland and began to practise asana more intensely and attended a number of classes which led me to the Mysore Room at Meadowlark Studio. It was here that I qualified to teach yoga in the Ashtanga and Vinyasa style under the tutelage of Dr Karen Kirkness. I constantly pursue self study in the fields of scriptures and anatomy, practice seated meditation and chant Sanskrit mantras or sutras.
Description
In this class you will get an introduction to the traditional sequence of Ashtanga style yoga, the half primary series. This is a fixed sequence of poses and is a physically demanding, dynamic practice that synchronises posture, conscious breath and drishti. With the help of props and in depth explanation of alignment, you will gain an understanding of what the physical practice entails, as well as learn aspects of its history, philosophy and terminology.
