I’m Vanessa, owner of yoga4HIM, LLC and a lifelong yoga student. I fell in love with the practice of yoga 20+ years ago with a simple Power Yoga DVD. After I had a good foundation of the traditional poses, my time on the mat became less about focusing on the “struggles” in the poses and more about focusing on my communication with God. I was now benefiting physically, emotionally, and spiritually each time I stepped onto my mat. I practiced off and on for about eight years before a friend introduced me to this crazy idea of hot yoga. While scared to death to try a 90-minute yoga class in a 100-degree studio, I quickly realized that a heated studio environment is where the magic happens. I enjoyed sharing my love with other yoga students and with an actual live yoga teacher, as opposed to a DVD instructor. However, after visiting several yoga studios in a couple of states, I had a lot of uncomfortable moments during the classes…the chanting, different breathing techniques, and unusual “music” from Tibetan singing bowls. These uncomfortable moments began to distract me from my prayer time, and I left the studio scene and returned to my own private home practice. My prayer time on the mat was back, but I was still missing something. I missed the health benefits of the heat, and I missed the interaction with others. I was (and still am) passionate about sharing my view of yoga with anyone that would listen and that would be willing to try it. I wanted everyone to know that you can practice yoga without succumbing to eastern religions that’s attached to the practice. I wanted others to know that yoga can be a great opportunity for that “me time” that we all need…for time specifically set aside for prayer, which we can all use more of. I am beyond humbled that God has opened doors for me to share my passion with others. To God be the Glory, I have earned my ACE Group Fitness Certification, an ACE Mind/Body Specialty Certification, and my 200-hour yoga certification. He has granted me the honor of sharing yoga with some of my church family, with my NOW Boot Camp and Wetumpka Curves families, and with new friends in our river region that I wouldn’t have otherwise met. It is my sincerest desire to share my love of yoga with you. With any of my classes, you will immediately feel the physical benefits of the poses. And as we move from pose to pose, let’s turn our thoughts inward and UPWARD, giving God the praise and glory for our health, for His provisions, for the wonderful people He has put into our lives. We will praise Him in times of feast, and we will praise Him in times of famine. I pray that He brings you into my life soon and that I’ll get to share some “mat time” with you!
Description
This is a 90-minute HEATED class and is filled with various series of strength poses that will push you to your limits physically and mentally. Be prepared to get your heart rate up and to sweat buckets . This class will require patience and self-control as you focus and work through each pose. Our tempo in this class varies with the focus and theme chosen by the instructor. Sometimes the focus may be cardio-intensive with a fast-paced power sequence. We may choose to slow the pace and focus on strength and alignment through the postures. The class may be centered around building up to a set peak pose or centered around improving stability/mobility within a certain area of the body (shoulder girdle/hips). We incorporate props when applicable, both as a group and based on individual needs. This class also uses light dumbbells, sometimes just once or twice through class or throughout the entire sequence. As with all of our classes, this class is also perfect for ALL levels, as each pose can be modified to meet your needs. You are in control of your entire practice.
*This class is perfect if you are looking for a cardio-intensive workout with your practice or to explore more depth within your practice.
**This class can be modified ALL fitness levels and for ALL practitioners of yoga.

Our Joy sequence is a 75-minute HEATED POWER class known for its fluid, movement-intensive practice. Each pose is linked together, flowing smoothly as you transition from pose to pose. You will find joy as you flow along the mat at a faster pace, testing your physical and mental limits. If you are not fond of a routine sequence and want to keep things lively and unpredictable, then this class is just for you. The tempo will be fast, the sequence dynamic, and the postures will focus on strength building. Expect to sweat and burn some major calories. Description
Our Mercy class is the latest addition to the studio. It is a 60-minute NON-HEATED CHAIR yoga class. Our class name stems from the most holy of holy seats....the mercy seat. In the Bible, the mercy seat is the throne of God on top of the ark of the covenant. It represented God's presence, divine access to Him, communion with God, and a place for propitiation. In yoga (and hopefully in life), we are always wanting to practice with the mindset of ahimsa (not causing harm). Our chair yoga class can provide such a place. A seat of mercy, compassion, healing (physically and spiritually), reconciliation, and grace. We must learn to have more compassion towards ourselves and learn to grant our bodies more grace. Chair yoga is great way to introduce your body to yoga. If you are think chair yoga is for senior citizens....let us show you otherwise! The use of a chair will provide support and stability. It will refrain us from getting up and down from the floor, but it will also put our bodies into better alignment through some of our standing postures.
*This class is intended for, but not limited to, beginners and those apprehensive to a heated yoga class.
*This class if perfect for those that physically cannot get up and down from the floor or that cannot put pressure on the knees.
