Gravity yoga is a targeted mobility training method that involves long hold stretches.
Poses are practised completely relaxed, passively, so gravity does most of the work. Gravity yoga focuses on opening up the hips, hamstrings and back, where eventually the whole body will open up overtime as everything is connected.
When you come to gravity yoga classes expect strong classes, challenging poses. The method is slow, with long hold postures taught in an effective and progressive way for each student to feel and deepen the stretch.
The classes are structured in a way that students can modify each posture to their physical needs, the aim is to find the stretch and relax as much as possible into each posture.
In gravity yoga we combine long hold postures with 4:8 breathing, an essential breathing technique that activate the parasympathetic nervous system and switch off the stretch and reflex response in the muscles, that usually naturally happens when we stretch the body, allowing the body to relax, open up deeper in a faster and more effective way, leaving a long lasting effect in the body and feeling a calmer mind.
