If you’re looking for a way to improve your focus and concentration, strengthen your eyesight and cleanse your eyes, why not try trataka meditation?

Trataka is a type of meditation that involves gazing at an object without blinking and Trataka can be used as a purifying and clearing technique for Saucha. Saucha comes from the Niyamas in the 8 limbs of Yoga, and that being of purity and cleanliness.

Tratak comes from the sanskrit and translated ‘to look or to gaze’. This practice is used to calm and purify the mind and often known as candle light gazing, which is the most common object to gaze at during Trataka. However, you can use a dot on the wall, a picture or an object that you feel more comfortable staring at for longer periods of time.

Scientific research has backed up the benefits of this type of meditation to reduce anxiety, stress, and work overload. It can also help to boost concentration and memory for people with a short attention span or those who really struggle to control a wandering mind.

All we need to practice Trataka, is a quiet, dimly lit, or even better dark, room with a candle or an object and you can Pause the video if you don’t have these already and we will get right in to the meditation.
