Strong and Slow is a slow vinyasa-style flow class. The slowing down of movement and breath helps to facilitate a mindful and focused experience, and an opportunity to more deeply understand the physical intricacies of each pose. This class provides balance to the frantic nature of most of our daily lives, allowing you to strengthen, stretch, and relax your body and mind. Options and modifications will be offered for different levels of experience, bodies, or energy levels.

No previous yoga experience required, however this class is not suitable for those with significantly impaired mobility.

Vinyasa flow is a practice of seamlessly flowing between postures, with breath. Classes will vary each week, but will always start with a meditation, before moving through a sequence which will warm up, strengthen and stretch the body. All of this happens alongside a focus on quieting the mind to find a balance between effort and ease. We end by slowing down into deep rest. Offering options for different experience levels, bodies or energy, this class will build mobility and strength through a wide range of movements while cultivating focus and calm.

This is a great chance to get your body moving in the middle of the day when you may have been at your desk all morning and could be there all day if you don't get out and move a bit. The class is 45 minutes and will give you a glorious boost!

My vinyasa classes always begin slowly with a pranayama and meditation, a quick warm-up for the wrists and shoulders and body as we work our way up to our vinyasa sequence. We will always wind the body down slowly with a closing sequence and finish in savasana or corpse pose, our final meditative resting pose, to let all the energy balancing work integrate into the body.
As always, you will be encouraged to take the opportunity to make the practice completely your own, take rest when you need it or choose from the many options to modify or amplify asana depending on what your body wants or needs. Modifications and amplifications are always offered and props (yoga blocks, straps, and blankets and cushions) are encouraged and included. Listen to your body – it and you are your best teacher.

Yin yoga is a slow-paced, mindful style of yoga in which the postures are held for longer periods of time, ranging from 2 to 5 minutes. We incorporate the use of props like bolster pillows to allow the body to stretch passively. In yin yoga, time is more important than intensity. Yin postures apply moderate stress to the connective tissues of the body i.e. the tendons, fascia, and ligaments, with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility. Yin has its origins in traditional Chinese Medicine and has similar effects to acupuncture as it works with chi and the meridian lines in the body. This 60 minute class comprises of a first half flow to move the body and breath with some pace, including strengthening, stretching and balancing poses both mat and standing. This first half flow is followed by a yin practice which is completely down on the mat, holding deep stretch poses for 213 minutes per to get into the connective tissue (joints, ligaments, tendons). This all round practice provides the active Yang energetic with the slow Yin, the latter taps into the parasympathetic nervous system leaving students with a deeply rested and refreshed experience.

A Vinyasa based class that is perfectly suited to beginners and those that are keen to learn more, building a stronger and more considered basis for their flow practice. Vinyasa Flow options are explained and practiced in full detail so that students are very comfortable with that range of methods to practice safe and maximise benefits. Also a wide range of options are discussed and practiced within each asana as we move more slowly and take a little longer. Time and enjoyment is taken in this practice.

Yin Yoga comprises poses that are primarily mat-based, where stretches are held for three or more minutes to target connective tissue (joints, ligaments, tendons, etc.). More activation of your para-sympathetic nervous system — “rest and digest” — through the Yin practice, which results in a very restful experience yet with plenty of sensation, space creation, and freeing and shifting of energy throughout.

A restorative yoga class to help support you through the long month of January. The class will take you through a grounding pranayama and then a series of postures, all floor based, that will nurture and support you. The aim of a restorative practice is to support your parasympathetic nervous system and will help you with anxiety, chronic pain, as a post-natal rest or just a bit of time out from our busy lives.
