This is a great class if you have a little yoga experience or are coming back after some time away. This is also suitable for beginners. Alex will lead you through a gentle practice that will support your head, heart and hips! There will be a focus on breathing and co-ordinating breath with movement.

If you are totally new to yoga and would like to dip your toe in to find out what it is all about and the benefits it will provide then this is the class for you. Alex will gently support you whatever shape you are in; sore back, knee, hip - no problem. Feeling anxious or fed-up, that’s fine too. This is a gentle offering to familiarise you with the practice of yoga.

In this class you will get an introduction to the traditional sequence of Ashtanga style yoga, the half primary series. This is a fixed sequence of poses and is a physically demanding, dynamic practice that synchronises posture, conscious breath and drishti. With the help of props and in depth explanation of alignment, you will gain an understanding of what the physical practice entails, as well as learn aspects of its history, philosophy and terminology.

Strong and Slow is a slow vinyasa-style flow class. The slowing down of movement and breath helps to facilitate a mindful and focused experience, and an opportunity to more deeply understand the physical intricacies of each pose. This class provides balance to the frantic nature of most of our daily lives, allowing you to strengthen, stretch, and relax your body and mind. Options and modifications will be offered for different levels of experience, bodies, or energy levels.

No previous yoga experience required, however this class is not suitable for those with significantly impaired mobility.

Vinyasa flow is a practice of seamlessly flowing between postures, with breath. Classes will vary each week, but will always start with a meditation, before moving through a sequence which will warm up, strengthen and stretch the body. All of this happens alongside a focus on quieting the mind to find a balance between effort and ease. We end by slowing down into deep rest. Offering options for different experience levels, bodies or energy, this class will build mobility and strength through a wide range of movements while cultivating focus and calm.

You'll be guided through a series of postures , each held for several mins to facilitate a deep release and stretch. Being supported with different props, this class is suitable for everyone.

This is a great chance to get your body moving in the middle of the day when you may have been at your desk all morning and could be there all day if you don't get out and move a bit. The class is 45 minutes and will give you a glorious boost!

My yoga classes are engaging and interactive with a strong focus on correct alignment to avoid injury. My classes often focus more on energetics practices like unblocking chakras, setting intentions, with pranayama (breathwork) and meditation often incorporated.
My vinyasa classes always begin slowly with a pranayama and meditation, a quick warm-up for the wrists and shoulders and body as we work our way up to our vinyasa sequence. We will always wind the body down slowly with a closing sequence and finish in savasana or corpse pose, our final meditative resting pose, to let all the energy balancing work integrate into the body.
As always, you will be encouraged to take the opportunity to make the practice completely your own, take rest when you need it or choose from the many options to modify or amplify asana depending on what your body wants or needs. Modifications and amplifications are always offered and props (yoga blocks, straps, and blankets and cushions) are encouraged and included. Listen to your body – it and you are your best teacher.

Lots of fun will be had with some spiritual insights thrown in along the way and you will feel rejuvenated and renewed afterwards.

Yin yoga is a slow-paced, mindful style of yoga in which the postures are held for longer periods of time, ranging from 2 to 5 minutes. We incorporate the use of props like bolster pillows to allow the body to stretch passively. In yin yoga, time is more important than intensity. Yin postures apply moderate stress to the connective tissues of the body i.e. the tendons, fascia, and ligaments, with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility. Practitioners are encouraged to establish their own “edge” in every pose, and to work within the limitations of their own bodies, find stillness and observe whatever arises.
Yin has its origins in traditional Chinese Medicine and has similar effects to acupuncture as it works with chi and the meridian lines in the body. Yin yoga can improve energy flow, enhance the flow of chi in the organs, and offer emotional and mental health benefits. In addition to people seeking a calmer, quieter practice, Yin is also an excellent style of yoga to complement more active forms of yoga and sports. Often practiced later in the day, it is the perfect way to unwind both the mind and body at any time of day to allow for balance in the body and a restful sleep.

This 60 minute class comprises of a first half flow to move the body and breath with some pace, including strengthening, stretching and balancing poses both mat and standing. This first half flow is followed by a yin practice which is completely down on the mat, holding deep stretch poses for 213 minutes per to get into the connective tissue (joints, ligaments, tendons). This all round practice provides the active Yang energetic with the slow Yin, the latter taps into the parasympathetic nervous system leaving students with a deeply rested and refreshed experience.

A slow paced class suitable for everyone. This is a well rounded slow-flow class. Accessible yoga postures and gentle creative flow sequences that encourage breath-led movement are at the heart of this grounding and relaxing practice. The calm and controlled strength, stretching and breathing exercises provide and safe and natural way to manage both physical and mental well-being.

We will begin this class with strong postures building strength and focusing on our alignment. After a time we will move into some deep restorative poses supported by bolsters and blankets and allow ourselves time to unwind.
